I'm pretty sure I clipped this Cathy Guisewite cartoon from the newspaper around 1990 or 1991. It's apparent I've learned a lot since then, right? Right?? [Cue cartoon bubble above my head reading "sigh..."]
Cathy: And would you mind not throwing newspapers all over my nice clean floor??!
Irving: Hey, sorry! I'll just go home!
C: No... I don't want you to go.
I: Cathy, you've been snapping at me for two hours. You must not want me here.
C: No... you've been great. I just feel fat and grouchy and disgusted with myself.
I: Why are you taking it out on me?
C: The person I'm really sick of in this relationship is the one I can't break up with.

What's really disturbing is that I manage to have this conversation even without an Irving in the house. Do you stick out your tongue and cross your eyes like Cathy when you deliver the last line? I find that really helps me. Egads, I'm writing comments about a Cathy cartoon! Wasn't that the point where I said I'd stop blogging?
JT: No, just when you'd stop commenting on others' blog posts. :-)
Joe: Sounds like me ranting in my head as I walk to work every morning. I haven't commented on this anger-management theme because I have no advice to offer. None.

ladron: I believe as much wisdom is found on the comics pages (and in Dear Abby) as in all the other sections of the paper. Embrace the cartoons!
H: Advice not necessary, really -- in cases like this, longwinded expressions of commiseration will suffice.
TY: thanks... I'm having a great weekend, honest!
A Cathy cartoon? Oh, sweet wounded Jesus...
Though I tend to not take out my bad attitude on anyone...it all stays in my head...which will inevitable explode one of these days.
