Quote of the Day

From Ultrabrown:

"[Indira Gandhi] had socialist and authoritarian streaks wider than the silver swirl in her coiffure."

I like it.

So what you're really saying is that we should have some oppressed minority members as part of her secret service team, just in case?

On the plus side, she could manage to prevent the scariest fundies from reproducing for a generation.

You've lost me in that comment. Are you referring to Hillary (and the original post comparison on Ultrabrown)?

Is there something I don't know about Indira and her sterilization policies or something??

Indira was murdered by two of her own security guards, Sikhs in fact. They had been angered by continual attacks on their temples by the central government. So yeah, Hillary, if one is to be concerned about authoritarian leanings, needs watchful eyes. The original post is probably where I should have put it.

Now what would you say about Laura Bush's streaks?

I know about the Sikh bodyguards and Amritsar temple, etc... I just wasn't sure what you meant when you wrote "prevent fundies from reproducing for a generation."

It was sometimes said that the Soviets would have steered the program to the most religious, but really the poor who often had so many children to start with, were also the most religious.
